Inquiring Minds Want To Know What’s the difference between Root Smudge, Root Blur, Balayage, and Highlights…
ROOT BLUR: This is a high contrasting technique that uses darker tones of color for contrast – This technique allows the client to leave more time between each color service. A Root Blur gives darker tones at root area and leaves lighter tones on the ends.
ROOT SMUDGE: In this technique, your stylist will choose lighter colors for the root so that the client will have a more balanced color from their root & ends. The Result is a natural balanced color.
BALAYAGE: This is actually a French word meaning sweeping, as in sweep on hair lightener to create a Highlight. Balayage is the technique or free-hand painting highlights onto the hair, creating a soft, natural gradual effect towards the ends. It doesn’t start at the root; it gradually lightens going toward the ends
HIGHLIGHTS: Traditional highlights are strands of hair that are woven to lighten from roots to end, leaving some natural hair in between. Specific sectioning techniques are used to ensure the hair is evenly highlighted.
